  Restaurant: we went about 45min to closing so we had a limited menu and some of what we thought we could order (salads) weren't available anymore. We for the spaghetti with clams, the prawns dish and American spaghetti with bacon. The dishes were very average. The American one was actually the best. The waitress was a little frazzled for the end of the night but could tell she was doing her best to give us a god experience. We for two wines, house merlot and the Chardonnay. Both were alright, nothing I would get again. Though the meal was very affordable, so I guess you get what you pay for. So if you're looking for a cheap quick meal. This is the place.
  
  Hotel: we stayed at the Messner Palace which was a four star. I would give it three stars. Staff was nice. Room was really really small for three people. There was no shower curtain so water got all over the bathroom floors. Towels smelled like vinegar and there were so many mosquitoes!! (Wish someone has warned us about this in Venice in general). I wouldn't stay there again, especially for how much we paid

  I stayed at the Messner Hotel for 2 nights. The hotel rooms are in a separate building from the main reception. Be warned! The building is old with no elevators... so be prepared to carry your suitcase up the stairs.
  
  The rooms have a very dated look to it and the furniture have seen better days. There is a bunk bed without a ladder and no safety railings for the top bunk. I feared rolling off the top bunk onto the floor during my sleep LOOOL. I would recommend taking off the mattress from the top bunk and putting the mattress on the floor. The blankets and towels smelled like vinegar and I did not sleep very comfortably. As for the restroom, the shower drain was slow and the shower curtain was not long enough... so it did flood a bit.
  
  While they do offer complimentary wi-fi, it does not work in the rooms. The wi-fi only worked in the small hotel lobby, first floor of the actual hotel and their restaurant.
  
  As for the complimentary breakfast, there was not much variety. I mostly only saw bread, cheese, meat slices, pastries, orange juice and pineapple juice. At the time, the coffee maker was not working so the staff poured coffee for us.
  
  The only redeeming factor is the day time receptionist. She was very nice and patient. She went above and beyond and even gave us a print-out of the water taxi and bus times.

  We stumbled upon this place after decided to bail on another seaside restaurant that was outrageously overpriced.  I'm surprised by the poor reviews.  We really enjoyed our food.  I ordered the pesto pasta and my husband ordered the liver.  I hate liver and it was shockingly delicious! My pesto was good but not great.  We both ordered sprits for drinks which were good.  We enjoyed the environment, service, and overall had a great dinner!

  Located in the south end of Dorsoduro where I have yet to find a good eatery, it has limited tourist traffic. The small inside dining area is very appealing. Wooden booths, cloth table cloths and napkins, lovely color scheme. There is a small garden area also that was full when I arrived at 2 pm. Gives the appearance of an upscale restaurant.
  
  Unfortunately, the food does not support the appearance.
  
  Service was excellent! I ordered pesto pasta with a side of steamed veggies (I am tired of getting a bowl of rocket advertised as a mixed salad) and a glass of the house rose. Every was on my table in less than 3 minutes!
  
  The bread basket contained 1 roll, 2 small Melba toasts and lots of saltine crackers wrapped in plastic. The roll was stale. The pasta was just OK, the pesto sauce was not very flavorful and slightly too oily. The veggies consisted of peas, way way over cooked zucchini mush and steamed spinach. Not appealing but not rocket. The peas were ok. The wine was quite good but could not make up for the rest of the meal.
  
  The service broke down after dinner I ordered a cup of hot tea and it took forever to appear. I ask for green tea and was given English Breakfast tea. No explaination.
  
  If you are going to the south end of the Dorsoduro, eat before you go.

  Only the bruschetta was ok. The pasta with lobster,
  The pasta pomodoro and the pasta with vegetables were all way below standard, especially in Italy. This is an insult to Italian food. The service was extremely slow. The place is infested by pigeons which fly around your head continuously and jump on your table.Do not go there. Avoid like the plague of Venice
